A Wireless Internet Service Provider based in South East Asia - Budget USD350,000

Requirements / Challenge

This client had invested a considerable amount of capital to enter the wireless world of broadband communications. The clients intention was to build a city wide network for roaming Wi-fi using mesh networking technology so that they could provide internet access to subscribers. The challenges facing this project were somewhat more difficult than first appeared. The company wanted a network that would cover 20 square kilometres of a city with mixed terrain and topology and robust enough to cope with weather extremes all built in three months.

Solution

The internet service provider knew that in order to fully meet their requirements they would need to begin a global search for a company. The company requested a number of European and American companies to demonstrate their products, as with all of the case studies, the design and technology proved to be the most robust and cost effective.

What our client received was a turn key solution, a complete servicing of their needs, from the providing and installation of sophisticated instrumentation through to establishment of custom built monitoring and control systems. The design team selected the optimal locations for all of its antenna, base stations and network equipment, making careful calculations based on the landscape and topography.

The networks were designed to automatically maintain a connection even as nodes appear and disappear as it automatically re-organise routes and paths to find the final destination.

Benefits

This turn key solution gave the company seamless roaming access for its broadband users, last mile solutions and most importantly from the ISPs viewpoint, a large volume of business and municipal customers. The Internet Service Provider is also confident they understand their own network and can repair any problems themselves.
